I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics and Business at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, an Affiliated Professor at the Barcelona School of Management and the Barcelona School of Economics, and an Affiliated Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition. Before joining Universitat Pompeu Fabra, I spent six years as a Senior Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition in Munich, and I held an interim professorship in Technology Management at the Technical University of Munich. I completed my PhD in Management at LMU Munich in 2015, and hold an MSc from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Alongside my academic research, I have worked on projects with the European Patent Office and the European Commission, and I am a board member of the European Policy for Intellectual Property (EPIP) Association. I also serve on the Advisory Board of the T!Raum funding initiative of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

My work has appeared in Management Science, the American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, the Review of Economics and Statistics, Research Policy, the Strategic Management Journal, and Science Advances. I received the Otto Hahn Medal of the Max Planck Society in 2017 and hold a Ramón y Cajal Research Fellowship.
